Privacy Statement for Haikuverse

Fancyland, LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Statement explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application, Haikuverse (the "App").

By using the App, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the App includes:

  • Personal Data: When you create an account, we collect your email address. You may also voluntarily provide us with a profile nickname. This information is used to personalize your experience and manage your account.

  • User-Generated Content (UGC): We collect the content you create, including your haikus, prompts, star names, fables, and any comments you publish within the "Haikuverse."

  • Generated Media: We store the images and audio files you generate and associate with your haikus.

  • Usage Data: We automatically collect your User ID (UID) and information related to your in-app activity, such as your favorited haikus, created constellations, likes, follows, and earned achievements.

  • Device and Network Data: Our servers and third-party services (like Firebase) may automatically collect standard log data, such as your IP address, device type, and operating system, for security and operational purposes.

  • Locally Stored Data: We use SharedPreferences on your device to store local preferences, such as your selected theme, to provide a consistent experience.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account.

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the App's core functionality.

  • Enable the display of your published content to other users.

  • Personalize your user experience (e.g., themes, recommendations).

  • Operate social features like notifications, follows, and likes.

  • Ensure the safety and security of our platform by moderating content.

  • Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve the App.

3. Disclosure of Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations:

  • With Third-Party Service Providers: We use Google Cloud Platform and Firebase for all backend services, including authentication, database (Cloud Firestore), file storage (Cloud Storage), and AI services (Vertex AI). Your data is processed and stored on these platforms to make the App function.

  • With Other Users: Your public profile (nickname and picture) and any content you publish (stars, constellations, fables, comments) are visible to other users of the App.

  • By Law or to Protect Rights: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect and defend our rights or property, or protect the personal safety of users or the public.

4. Security of Your Information

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. We leverage Firebase Authentication, Firestore Security Rules, and secure Google Cloud Functions to control data access. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable.

5. Your Data Rights

You have certain rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access and Correction: You can access and update your profile information at any time through the "Settings" tab in the App.

  • Deletion: You may delete your account at any time. Deleting your account will remove your personal profile and private data. Please note that some of your published, collaborative content may remain in an anonymized state.


6. Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Statement from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date of this Privacy Statement.

Your Data Rights.

Haikuverse Account & Data Deletion

We believe in your right to control your data. You may request the deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

How to Request Deletion

  1. Open the Haikuverse app and log in.

  2. Navigate to the Preferences screen (the gear icon).

  3. Tap on the Settings tab (in the top navigation bar).

  4. Click on the Account Management link.

  5. Click on the Delete Account and All User Data button.

  6. A pop-up window will ask you to confirm or cancel the irreversible action.

For security, you will be required to re-authenticate (by entering your password or re-signing in with Google) to confirm the deletion request. Once confirmed, your account will be logged out and your data will be queued for permanent deletion.

Data That Will Be Permanently Deleted

Requesting account deletion will initiate the permanent removal of all personally identifiable data associated with your account from our production systems. This includes:

  • Firebase Authentication Record: Your login credentials (email and hashed password and/or Google Auth link).

  • Private User Profile: Your private document in our users collection, which stores your EULA acceptance status and all quota/subscription data.

  • Public User Profile: Your public-facing profile, including your nickname, avatar URL, achievements, and follower count.

  • All Private Favorites: Your entire collection of saved haikus in your favorites subcollection.

  • All Published Stars: All haikus you have published to the community. This will trigger the deletePublishedStar logic, removing them from constellations and the Vector Search index.

  • All Your Comments: All comments you have written on any star, including pending, approved, or rejected comments.

  • All Your Likes: All records of stars you have liked.

  • All Social Graph Data: Your "following" list and the records of other users "following" you.

  • All Notifications: Your list of pending notifications.

  • Cloud Storage Files: All files you own, including your avatar and all your generated audio files.

Data Retention

Upon confirmed request, your data is scheduled for deletion and will be permanently purged from our systems and backups within 30 days.

The only data that may be retained is:

  • Constellation Ownership: To prevent data loss for the community, any Constellation you own will have ownership transferred to the next sequential publisher within that constellation. If you are the only publisher in the constellation, the constellation and its fable data will be permanently deleted.

  • Anonymized Analytics: We may retain aggregated, fully anonymized analytics data (e.g., "1,000 haikus were generated yesterday") that has no link to you or any deleted personal identifier.
